Piper Shepard
How Cloth Becomes Architecture.
Textiles are the passionate muse behind Piper Shepard's unique artistry. With multiple degrees and a teaching discipline in fiber, Piper has consistently created works that engage the interaction between cloth and architecture. She cuts her fine art by hand out of gesso-ed canvas with an Exacto Blade to produce out-sized textiles that reside in site-specific environments.
A Professor at Maryland Institute College of Art since 1994, she has received multiple Individual Artist Awards from The Maryland State Arts Council in Crafts. Shepard has published a monograph entitled Portfolio Collection: Piper Shepard and her exhibitions include:
* The Baltimore Museum of Art
* The Corcoran Gallery of Art
* The Delaware Art Museum
* The Museum of Art and Design, Helsinki, Finland
Piper Shepard's feature designs for Veritas™ are Kaleidoscope, Lancet and Pendant.
